Hello Kay County Republicans!

Join us this Thursday, June 25th, for our monthly meeting at 7pm at Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City.  We will be just over week before the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!!!  It is fitting that our speaker will be a history and government teacher… who is also running for State School Superintendent.  Dr. James Taylor survived the crowded primary election and is advancing to the runoff on August 25th.  He is running against someone who is very liberal and has been publicly supportive of democrats.  Dr. Taylor will need our help to prevail in August election.

Be sure to get your tickets for the OKGOP 250th celebration on Saturday in OKC.  We will have a table there, and there will also be speakers and other activities. We hope to see you there!

On the 4th of July, Ekklesia will be having a free celebration in Edmond featuring Pastor Dan Fisher giving his “Black Robe Regiment” presentation.  In costume, with an actual revolutionary war musket, he tells the story of some of the pastors that led and guided the American Revolutionary War.  I contacted him earlier about coming up to do that presentation for us here, but unfortunately that doesn’t look like it will work any time soon.  So, this is your best opportunity to go hear him give that eye-opening presentation!

Last month at our meeting, Charles Key spoke about the problem of unequal representation in our state Capitol.  While each of the Senators and each of the Representatives are elected to represent an equal number of people, the few in leadership positions exert total control over the process, including preventing some legislators from even having any of their bills heard.  That is not a representative republican form of government.  To address this issue, Charles Key is offering a citizen petition that each legislator would have the right to have at least three bills heard each year.  You can read the OKGOP Resolution on this here or visit sq840.com for more information.  We are collecting signatures through July 15th to get this on the ballot before the people.  If you were not at our last meeting, or just haven’t signed the petition yet, please come on Thursday and sign it!  Otherwise, please let me or Joe know and we will make arrangements to collect your “John Hancock” for this effort!

As we reach the 250th anniversary of the founding of our republic by the signing of the Declaration of Independence, take some time to reread it with gratitude for God’s Providence and the men who wrote it and gave their lives to enforce it.  Then, as they did, we too must reaffirm our commitment to uphold “these truths” and rebuild liberty on those principles.  Resolving to constrain our government “to secure these rights” for the next generation.  “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor”
